The DeSoto Art League was chartered in 1981 to serve the needs of the artists in the Community of DeSoto and surrounding areas. It has grown and now serves all the area south and southwest of Dallas. The Art League meets the last Thursday of each month (except November and December when the meetings are scheduled on other days to accommodate the holidays). The Art League does not meet during the summer months. It sponsors a prominent artist at each regular meeting to demonstrate their art, methods and techniques.
All art meduims are represented, fabric, clay, oil, water medium, the dry mediums, acrylics, sculpture and others.
Two shows are held each year. A Member's Only show is held in December and an Open Show (Open to all artists) is held in June in conjunction with DeSoto's Creekfest. In addition, mini-shows are held each month at regular meetings where members select their favorite work. The winners are displayed in the City of DeSoto Library.
The DeSoto Art League also coordinates member art exhibits which are displayed in the DeSoto city hall.

The next Art League meeting will be at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the DeSoto Presbyterian Church, located at 212 W. Pleasant Run Road in DeSoto, Texas (Just west of Hampton Road one block on the south side)
The May 2013 meeting will feature a big POTLUCK DINNER. Bring a Dish. Share! Meet the New Officers and Committee People. Get with Bryan Reynolds and volunteer to help a few hours with the Show.
(You have my permission to bring my favorite dessert).
ALSO, DON’T FORGET TO BRING YOUR CHECKBOOK AND PAY YOUR DUES FOR 2013-2014 AT THIS MEETING.
Bryan Reynolds will be asking for help with the Show…. Especially the reception for the artists and to help take in artwork and to hang the show.
The Art League will furnish refreshments and dinner ware for this meeting.
