The current art exhibit in the Desoto City Hall is by Jones C. "Jonesy" McConnell, Jr. The exhibit will be on display through April 29, 2010.
Jonesy is a practicing Dallas architect since 1973. He is a self taught artist concentrating on realistic watercolor paintings.
He is a signature member of the Southwestern Watercolor Society, a national organization based in Dallas, Texas. He is also a member of the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies and the Richardson Civic Art Society.
A native Texan, Jonesy graduated from Richardson High School and later Texas Tech with a four year stint as a technical illustrator in the Air Force.
Jonesy also does pen and ink sketching and cartooning, and loves to travel...... locally and worldwide collecting subject matter for paintings. "A sketch book is a universal language for those of us who speak no other languages!"
He often paints commissions, including "house portraits", paintings of people's former or current homes, farm houses, etc.
Other interests include jogging, reading best sellers, scuba diving, singing, telling jokes and playing with his five grandchildren. His wife of 42 years has always been his best supporter.

The DeSoto Art League coordinates art exhibits in the DeSoto City Hall. Members of the Art League and occasionally non-members exhibit artwork in the City Hall for one month at a time. The display space is wall space only. It is located in the atrium and is in a great place for daily pedestrian traffic to pass by.
